hanging out with architect, reed finlay (pun intended)

every two years the department of energy sponsors a solar decathlon competition in the united states.  only 20 schools around the world are chosen to compete and are challenged to design and build a net-zero, solar powered home to be displayed on the national mall in washington, d.c.
this year chicago born, leed certified, architect, reed finlay will be participating as the acting project manager for the sci-arc/caltech team in los angeles, ca.

reed is extremely hard working and driven.. and i have a feeling that his team is about to give the other 19 schools a run for their money this september.
if you're in d.c. from september 14-30th go show the sci arc/caltech team some love and support this admirable and innovative project.  in the mean time check out their website for up to date info.
last week i photographed reed at his home in venice, ca where i asked him to climb trees, throw his hat across the yard and lay on the ground.  it's all in a day's work.
